What is the use of having two discharge buttons, one saying "Discharge" and the other "Bookdrop". Does the regular discharge button not allow you to assign the date of check-in? If so, why couldn't they be consolidated?

As far as I understand it, the bookdrop icon is the only one where you can change the date...

I think Bethany is right...we use the bookdrop icon for the first morning discharge so the books left overnight are counted as being checked in the day before.
